Singapore secures top ranking as global shipping hub once again
According to the report, Singapore’s strategic location, strong international orientation, and robust ecosystem of professional maritime services are responsible for its ongoing dominance in global shipping.
With a nearly flawless score of 99.5 out of 100 on the 2025 Xinhua-Baltic International Shipping Center Development Index (ISCDI), Singapore has once again been crowned the world’s premier shipping hub. Since the index’s inception, the nation has topped the rankings for 12 years running, according to the most recent ISCDI report.
According to the report, Singapore’s strategic location, strong international orientation, and robust ecosystem of professional maritime services are responsible for its ongoing dominance in global shipping. Ang Wee Keong, chief executive of Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority, stated.
Hong Kong (80.77), Dubai (75.97), Shanghai (81.01), and London (81.02) completed the top five. Baltic Exchange, a provider of data on nautical markets, and China News Agency Xinhua collaborated to create the index. It assesses forty-three maritime sites. Port parameters, such as cargo throughput, crane count, container berth length, and port draught, account for 20% of the ranking.
