HSBC’s profit surges 32% to $9.6B in Q3
London-based lender’s 3rd-quarter revenue rises $800M to $18.6B, driven by net interest income growth.
British banking giant HSBC reported a 32% year-on-year surge in pretax profit to $9.6 billion for the third quarter of 2026, the lender said on Tuesday.
The London-based bank posted quarterly revenue of $18.6 billion, up $800 million compared to the same period last year.
The revenue increase was driven by growth in banking net interest income alongside higher activity across corporate and investment banking and wealth management.
Pretax profit climbed $2.3 billion year-on-year to $9.6 billion, representing a 32% increase.
The lender also announced plans to launch a $1 billion share buyback program for the final quarter of the year.
For the first nine months of the year, HSBC’s pretax profit rose 26% year-on-year to $29.2 billion.
