European ETF assets hit record $3.8tn in July end


Europe’s ETF industry reached a record $3.80 trillion in assets at the end of July, as year-to-date net inflows climbed to an all time high of $323.59 billion, according to ETF research firm ETFGI.

Assets crossed the previous record of $3.77 trillion set in May 2026 and have increased 17.9% from  the end of 2025.

Equity ETFs led July flows with $40.51 billion of net inflows, taking their YTD total to $223.29 billion, up from $144.30 billion at the same point last year. Fixed income ETFs gained $11.10 billion during the month, bringing YTD inflows to $65.30 billion, compared with $35.92 billion last year.

Active ETFs gained $4.30 billion in July and $30.93 billion YTD, almost double the amount recorded by the end of July 2025. Commodity ETFs attracted $2.12 billion during July, taking YTD inflows to $5.16 billion, but less than the amount gathered over the same period last year.

iShares remained Europe’s largest ETF provider, with $1.50 trillion in assets and a 39.4% market share. Amundi ETF followed with $475.43 billion, while Xtrackers managed $390.44 billion.

The top 20 ETFs by net new assets gathered a combined $23.33 billion in July, led by the Vanguard FTSE All-World Ucits ETF with $3.79 billion.

At the end of July, Europe’s ETF industry comprised 3,959 products from 167 providers across 32 exchanges in 26 countries. So far this year, 379 ETFs have launched and 27 have closed.

“The S&P 500 declined slightly by 0.06% in July but remained up 10.14% year-to-date in 2026. Developed markets excluding the US gained 0.30% during July and were up 14.62% year-to-date, with Luxembourg and Norway posting the strongest gains among developed markets. Emerging markets fell 0.33% in July but remained up 9.40% year-to-date, while Taiwan and Turkey recorded the largest declines among emerging markets,” according to Deborah Fuhr, managing partner, founder and owner of ETFGI.
