RP Global to build 124 MW wind farm in Poland

Independent power producer (IPP) RP Global is preparing to start the construction of the 123.9 MW Walcz wind farm in Poland, following regulatory improvements.

Works on the facility in the town of Walcz, the northwestern West Pomeranian province, will start in early February, with completion planned for the fourth quarter of 2027, the company said.

The turbines for the project will be supplied by Nordex under a contract for 21 N149 machines, each with a hub height of 134 m and an installed capacity of 5.9 MW.

The RP Global country manager for Poland pointed out that the Wałcz project is only the beginning of a broader development strategy, resulting in a sizeable renewable energy portfolio in Poland.

Wałcz is the first project of RP Global in Poland after a long pause following the introduction in 2016 of the 10H rule, requiring a distance between the housing and the turbine to be 10 times its height. In 2023, two wind farms totalling 103 MW were sold to Engie.

Since the distance of the 10H act was amended to 700 metres in 2023, RP Global has returned to Poland to become an independent power producer (IPP) and to develop a Polish pipeline of more than 3 GW.
