{"id":5587,"date":"2026-02-18T06:15:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T03:15:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/relinvestmentsgroup.com\/?p=5587"},"modified":"2026-02-18T06:15:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T03:15:10","slug":"aktsii-national-australia-bank-dostigli-rekordnogo-maksimuma-na-fone-vysokih-pokazatelej-pribyli-za-pervyj-kvartal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/relinvestmentsgroup.com\/en\/aktsii-national-australia-bank-dostigli-rekordnogo-maksimuma-na-fone-vysokih-pokazatelej-pribyli-za-pervyj-kvartal\/","title":{"rendered":"National Australia Bank\u2019s shares hit record high on robust first-quarter cash profit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Australia\u2019s top business lender has posted cash earnings of A$2 billion for the quarter ended Dec 3.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">National Australia Bank\u2019s (NAB) shares shot to a record high after the top business lender reported a 16 per cent growth in its first-quarter cash earnings on Wednesday (Feb 18), driven by strong performance across its business and home lending segments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Shares of the lender rose as much as 5.8 per cent to an all-time high of A$47.96, also marking their best trading session since Apr 10 last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Australia\u2019s top business lender posted cash earnings of A$2 billion for the quarter ended Dec 31, higher than A$1.7 billion reported a year ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The bank\u2019s biggest segment, business banking, saw a 7 per cent increase in quarterly volumes with a 3 per cent growth in the Business &amp; Private Banking segment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">All of this comes as competition intensifies, with peers Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Westpac Banking locked in a fight to grab more customers and grow their market share.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Hot on its heels, quarterly housing loan volumes rose 5 per cent with Australian home lending growth outpacing the broader market, excluding the runoffs from its Advantedge unit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">NAB had announced last year that it would migrate all existing Advantedge home loans to NAB branded home loans in late 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">NAB\u2019s net interest margin, a closely watched measure of lending profitability, increased two basis points to 1.8 per cent, it said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Meanwhile, the bank\u2019s measure of its spare cash or common equity tier 1 (CET1) ratio slipped to 11.48 per cent in the first quarter, from 11.6 per cent last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cOverall, a very strong headline beat underpinned by a great quarter in M&amp;T (Markets &amp; Treasury) and in better asset quality,\u201d Citi analysts wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cCET1 remains the clear negative out of this result, and weaker vs what we saw in November, which could remain an overhang on what was a good quarter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cNAB is well placed to manage our bank for the long term and to support our customers, while delivering sustainable growth and returns for shareholders,\u201d said NAB CEO Andrew Irvine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">NAB brings the curtain down on \u201cBig Four\u201d banks\u2019 February earnings season and keeps the upbeat tone set by CBA last week, when it delivered record first-half cash earnings on the back of market share gains across home loans, business loans, and deposits.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Australia\u2019s top business lender has posted cash earnings of A$2 billion for the quarter ended Dec 3.
